Badges of Fury

Badges of Fury is a Hong Kong-Chinese action comedy about two mismatched police officers, the young and impulsive Wang Buer and the veteran Huang Feihong, who are handed a string of strange murders in Hong Kong. The victims turn out to be former boyfriends of Liu Jinshui, a rising young actress, and early suspicion falls on her. Once the detectives become convinced she is not responsible, they set a trap for the real killer: one of them poses as her new boyfriend, hoping to draw the murderer out into the open.

The film is directed by Wong Tsz-Ming, with a screenplay by Tan Cheung and Fengxiang Yang, and it brings together comedy and crime action in a case that keeps pulling the two partners into danger. Wen Zhang plays Wang Buer opposite Jet Li as Huang Feihong, while Liu Shishi plays the actress at the centre of the investigation. Michelle Chen, Liu Yan and Stephen Fung round out the main cast, with a credited ensemble of 62 performers.

Released in June 2013 and running 98 minutes, the film took in roughly 46 million US dollars worldwide. Audience responses were modest: it holds 4.5 out of 10 on IMDb from about 3,300 votes and 5.4 out of 10 on TMDB from 157 votes.
