Short description
Point Break follows Johnny Utah, a former motocross rider turned young FBI agent who works undercover. He is sent to infiltrate a group of criminals suspected of carrying out a series of elaborate robberies around the world, heists that disrupt financial markets and are treated as acts of terrorism. Utah's superiors are doubtful, but they give him his chance. His way in is the group's shared passion for extreme sports, and its charismatic leader, Bodhi. To be accepted, Utah must prove he is one of them, taking on surfing, snowboarding, free climbing and wingsuit flights. The deeper he goes, the more Bodhi's pull and the presence of Samsara Dietz unsettle his resolve.
The film is a remake of the 1991 thriller of the same name, directed here by Ericson Core, whose earlier film was Invincible and whose next was Togo. Kurt Wimmer wrote the screenplay and produced alongside David Valdes and Broderick Johnson. Edgar Ramírez plays Bodhi, with Luke Bracey as Utah, Teresa Palmer as Samsara, Ray Winstone as Angelo Pappas, Max Thieriot as Jeff and Delroy Lindo as the FBI instructor.
Released in December 2015, the film cost about 105 million dollars and returned roughly 134 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.3 out of 10 from around 69,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6 out of 10 from about 2,500 votes. A critics' rating of 3.6 out of 10 from 113 reviews is lower than both audience scores.

- In the 1991 film, James LeGros played one of the former presidents. In the remake, he appeared as an FBI agent.

- Gerard Butler was the first to be cast in the role. He was supposed to play Bodhi, the leader of a group of extreme sports enthusiasts. Butler had to withdraw from the project due to a busy work schedule.
- Bo Jesse Christopher, who plays the FBI Director, also appeared in the 1991 film. There, he played Grommet, one of the surfing robbers who wore a mask of President Lyndon Johnson.
- Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth, and Garrett Hedlund were candidates for the role of Bodhi.

- Some scenes were filmed in Venezuela at Angel Falls, which has a continuous freefall of 807 meters (the highest waterfall in the world). Edgar Ramirez, who played Bodhi, was born in Venezuela.
- Actress Theresa Palmer, who plays Samsara, has a son named Bodhi Rain. The film's main character is also named Bodhi.
- This is Theresa Palmer's first role since the birth of her son, yet she performs almost all of the stunts in the film herself.
- Even before filming of the remake began, there was an idea to film a sequel to "Point Break." It would have been set in Indonesia, and Australian actor Damien Walsh-Howling was considered for the lead role. In fact, the sequel would only have been related to the original film by the combination of a surfer-criminal. However, this project was eventually rejected.
- Edgar Ramirez, who played Bodhi, starred in "Zero Dark Thirty" directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who also directed the 1991 "Point Break".
- Edgar Ramirez and Ray Winstone both played the god Ares in films based on ancient Greek myths. Ramirez appeared in "Wrath of the Titans," and Winstone in "Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief".
- Director Ericson Corr worked as a cinematographer on the set of "The Fast and the Furious," which has much in common with the film "Point Break" (1991).
