A Hard Day

Detective Go Gun-su is driving home from his mother's funeral when he hits a man with his car. The victim dies, and with a corruption investigation already hanging over him, Gun-su makes a panicked decision: he hides the body inside his mother's coffin and goes ahead with the burial. The cover-up does not hold. The case surfaces in police records, and the colleague assigned to investigate it is his own partner. On top of that, a man named Park Chang-min contacts him claiming to have seen the accident, and his demands soon turn into something more dangerous than blackmail.

Kim Seong-hun directed and co-wrote the film with Jang Hang-jun. It was his first feature as director, followed by Tunnel, Kingdom: Ashin of the North and Ransomed. Lee Sun-kyun plays Gun-su, with Cho Jin-woong as Chang-min and supporting turns from Jeong Man-sik, Shin Jung-geun, Shin Dong-mi and Heo Jung-eun among a credited cast of twenty-two. The film grossed about 26 million US dollars worldwide.

On IMDb it holds 7.2 out of 10 from roughly 18,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.1 out of 10 from about 525 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 7.5 out of 10 from 33 reviews, putting critical and audience responses close together.
