All actors and roles (10)

• The events depicted in the film take place after the events of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Zack Snyder, 2016). This becomes clear from the second trailer when David Harbour's character says: "What if Superman decided to fly in, rip the roof off the White House and drag the President out of the Oval Office?" The word "then" indicates that the general public still believes Superman is dead after his battle with Doomsday during the events described in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Zack Snyder, 2016).
• The baseball bat used in the film from Harley Quinn's arsenal was gifted to Kevin Smith for discussing Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016) on the "Spoilers" film news program. Smith gave it to his daughter Harley Quinn Smith, named after the comic book supervillain from DC Comics.
• In Francis Lawrence's "I Am Legend," starring Will Smith, a poster of a non-existent film, "Batman vs Superman," hangs on the wall. The plot of Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" unfolds in the same cinematic universe as the plot of David Ayer's "Suicide Squad."
• At one point, it was claimed that Callan Mulvey would play the role of the Joker in the film. In "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Zack Snyder, 2016), Mulvey played another villain – Anatoly Knyazev, nicknamed the KGBist.
• This is the first film not about Batman to feature the Joker.
• Jared Leto had to get into shape for the role of the Joker. However, the actor was already in excellent physical condition, so training only took him two months.
• Tom Hardy was initially cast as Rick Flag, but he left the project to film Alejandro González Iñárritu's "The Revenant" (2015). In Christopher Nolan's action film "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012), Hardy played Bane, who in the comics was a former member of the Suicide Squad. Hardy later admitted that he regretted not being able to star in "Suicide Squad".
• Jared Leto became so immersed in the role of the Joker that he didn't break character even off-set. Leto sent "gifts" to other actors, very much in the spirit of his character: Margot Robbie received a rat, Will Smith – bullets, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje – an old issue of "Playboy" and a dead pig, while the rest of the cast and crew received beads and used condoms.
• The first trailer for the film Suicide Squad was shown at the annual international Comic Con festival on July 11, 2015. Initially, Warner Brothers resisted and rejected the idea of showing the trailer to a wide audience, but after a few days, they nevertheless agreed to its release.
• Felicity Jones, Imogen Poots, Alison Brie, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Emma Watson, Rachel McAdams, Zooey Deschanel, Kat Dennings, Jennifer Lawrence, Lindsay Lohan, Alice Eve, Amanda Seyfried, and Evan Rachel Wood were considered for the role of Harley Quinn.
• Jared Leto attended the international "Comic Con" festival in New York in 2015 incognito and even took a picture with a fan dressed as the Joker.
• In the comics published by "DC Comics" and "Marvel Comics", Enchantress is depicted as a sorceress who prefers to wear green clothing. The filmmakers wanted this character to be portrayed differently, so she more closely resembles Galadriel from the films about Middle-earth.
• Director David Ayer described the film as a "comic book version of "The Dirty Dozen" (referring to Robert Aldrich's 1967 film).
• Oprah Winfrey, Viola Davis, Kerry Washington, and Octavia Spencer were considered for the role of Amanda Waller.
• Writer and producer Paul Dini, who created the character of the supervillain Harley Quinn (she first appeared in the animated series "Batman" in 1992), stated that in the film, this heroine is, in his opinion, very "promisingly" portrayed.
• In the comics, Deadshot is Latino, not African American, as depicted in the film.
• Each member of the Suicide Squad has an item of clothing that references an episode from their past in the comics. For Harkness, it’s a blue shirt with the word "Captain" and small boomerangs on the fabric (in memory of Captain Boomerang's uniform). Killer Croc wears clothing made of crocodile skin. June Moone, or Enchantress, wears something resembling a helmet to keep her abilities in check (in the comics, this was a necklace). Chato Santana wears a hoodie with the inscription "Diablo" (his nickname). Katana's clothing is styled after both her black uniform from the "The New 52" series (launched by "DC Comics" in September 2011) and her classic outfit with the Japanese symbol of the rising sun). Harley Quinn dresses in blue and red, as she does in the "The New 52" series, where she is a member of the Suicide Squad.
• Christian Bale starred in David Ayer's directorial debut "Harsh Times" (2005), who later played Batman in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy (2005, 2008, 2012).
• The third film set in the expanded DC Universe, following Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' (2013) and 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' (2016).
• Cara Delevingne was a leading contender for the role of Harley Quinn, but Margot Robbie ultimately landed the part.

• At one time, it was claimed that Callan Mulvey would play the Joker. In the film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," Mulvey played another villain – Anatoly Knyazev, nicknamed the KGBist.

• The trailer for the film, shown at the annual international "Comic-Con" festival, featured an arrangement of The Bee Gees' song "I Started A Joke".
• Due to the grim atmosphere of the film, a psychologist was constantly on duty on set.

• The "Jokermobile", or the Joker's car, is a custom-made Infiniti G35 Vaydor.
• Scott Eastwood and Jim Parrack are working together for the first time in a David Ayer film since their collaboration on the war drama "Fury" (2014).
• Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje did extensive preparation before filming, reading everything that had been written about his character Killer Croc over the decades since his first appearance in the comics. Furthermore, the actor studied crocodile behavior and researched the phenomenon of cannibalism.
• Ryan Gosling was the first actor offered the role of the Joker.
• Some events take place in Midway City. In the comics, this is the hometown of the superhero couple Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

• Actor Jared Leto borrowed traits of the Joker's character from Grant Morrison's graphic novel "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth" (DC Comics, 1989). There, he is an extraordinary personality, capable of unsettling and throwing off balance on one hand, and captivating on the other. The actor also cited gospel music, shamans, and Mexican drug cartels as factors that influenced his vision of the character.
• Harley Quinn carries a red and black umbrella, which is her color scheme from the "Batman" project (1992). She also uses a baseball bat from the "Batman: Arkham" video game series (2009-2015).

Anna Paquin starred in the "X-Men" franchise; Kevin Alejandro and Rutina Wesley played in the television series "Arrow" (2012); Joe Manganiello starred in "Spider-Man" (Sam Raimi, 2002); and Deborah Ann Woll starred in the television series "Daredevil" (2015).

• Ted Whittall, who appeared in this film as Admiral Olsen, played Rick Flag in the series "Smallville" (2001-2011).
• Emma Roberts declined an offer to play Harley Quinn in order to participate in filming the television series "Scream Queens" (2015).
• In the chase scene with the Joker and Harley Quinn, a stuntman, not Ben Affleck, was in the Batman costume.
• Ben Affleck was the first actor to play Batman in two films directed by different directors, and to play Batman in two films released in the same year.
• Blake Lively declined the offer to play Enchantress. The actresses considered for the role included Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan, Megan Fox, Elliot Page, Kristen Ritter, Emma Stone, Alicia Vikander, Shailene Woodley, Emilia Clarke, and Alexandra Daddario.
• The baseball bat used in the film from Harley Quinn's arsenal was gifted to Kevin Smith for his discussion of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" on the Spoilers movie review program. Smith then gave it to his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.
• When auditioning for the role of Enchantress, Cara Delevingne read excerpts from Edward Albee's play "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?". She was asked to read them several times, each time differently, to assess the actress's ability to portray the dual personality of June Moon. By the end of the audition, Delevingne was ready to attack the director with her fists. "David Ayer made me so angry that I was afraid to do something and end up in jail," the actress later said.
Scott Eastwood repeatedly admitted that Leto's behavior sometimes frightened him.

• Generally, getting into the required physical shape for filming is not easy; it's a laborious and lengthy process. Jared Leto had to bulk up for the role of the Joker. However, the actor was already in excellent physical condition, so his training took only two months.
• Joel Kinnaman, who plays Rick Flag, was a series regular on the television series "The Killing" (2011-2014). The third episode of the first season of the series was titled "El Diablo". The character nicknamed Diablo in "Suicide Squad" is played by Jay Hernandez.

• With the film's release, Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith will become the first married couple to play villains from Batman films – respectively in "Suicide Squad" (2016) and the television series "Gotham" (2014). It should be noted that Jada Pinkett Smith's character was created specifically for the series, while Will Smith's character was established in the comics.
• At 180 centimeters tall, Jared Leto became the third tallest Joker in history. Before him, this role was played by Jack Nicholson (177), Heath Ledger (185), and Cesar Romero (191).

Will Smith proved to be a good shooter, especially with a rifle at long distances.
• Harley Quinn's biography is based on the graphic novel "Mad Love" (1994) by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. According to the plot, Quinn worked at Arkham Asylum, and one of her patients was the Joker, with whom she fell in love.
