Close Range

Colton MacReady, a former elite soldier now operating outside the law, rescues his young niece from the grip of a Mexican drug cartel. The fallout follows him home: enforcers seeking revenge descend on his remote farm, backed by a corrupt local sheriff and his deputies, who make sure no help reaches the property. MacReady must hold out against a sustained assault to keep his sister and her daughter alive.

The film is directed by Isaac Florentine, the eighth of the twelve features listed in his filmography, arriving between Ninja: Shadow of a Tear and Acts of Vengeance. Scott Adkins plays MacReady, with Nick Chinlund as Sheriff Jasper Calloway, Caitlin Keats, Jake La Botz, Tony Perez and Madison Lawlor in supporting roles. Shane Dax Taylor and Chad Law wrote the screenplay, and Ehud Bleiberg produced. The production was modestly budgeted at 3 million USD but took 36 million USD worldwide, a strong return for an action title of this scale.
