Nerve

Nerve follows Vee Delmonico, a quiet high school senior who is tired of watching from the sidelines. Encouraged by her friends, she signs up as a player in an online game in which participants carry out dares suggested and watched by a live audience. A first dare pairs her with Ian, a young man she has never met, and the two become a popular team as the challenges grow riskier and the rewards larger. What begins as a diversion turns into something the players cannot simply walk away from, since an anonymous community of watchers controls the game and keeps raising the stakes.

The film was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, and it sits between their two Paranormal Activity installments and Viral in their shared filmography. Jessica Sharzer wrote the screenplay, and Allison Shearmur and Anthony Katagas produced. Emma Roberts plays Vee and Dave Franco plays Ian, with Emily Meade, Miles Heizer, Juliette Lewis and Kimiko Glenn among the supporting cast. The budget was 19 million dollars and the worldwide gross reached about 85 million, a solid return.
