Hannah Swensen runs a bakery called the Cookie Jar in the small Minnesota town of Eden Lake, where her shop serves as a gathering place for locals and their gossip. Her routine is shattered when she finds the body of her friend and delivery driver shot behind the store. Frustrated with the pace of the police investigation, Hannah begins looking into the case herself, turning the baker into an amateur detective while a romance develops alongside the mystery. The film is based on Joanne Fluke's novel Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder.
Mark Jean directed the film, which sits between The Nine Lives of Christmas and Love at First Dance in his directing credits. Donald Martin wrote the screenplay, and Harvey Kahn produced. Alison Sweeney plays Hannah, with Cameron Mathison as Detective Mike Kingston, Barbara Niven as Delores Swensen, Gabriel Hogan as Norman Rhodes, Lisa Durupt as Andrea Todd and Toby Levins as Bill Todd, among 24 credited cast members.
Released in 2015, the television mystery runs 83 minutes and was made in Canada and the United States by Motion Picture Corporation of America, Brad Krevoy Television, Front Street Pictures and Stephanie Germain Productions. On IMDb it holds 6.7/10 from around 2,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7/10 from a much smaller group of 84 votes.
