The After

Eight strangers find themselves brought together by unexplained forces and must rely on one another to stay alive in a brutal world that resists any explanation. The film blends drama, fantasy and mystery, following this group as they face a hostile environment whose rules they do not understand.

The After was directed by Chris Carter, who also wrote the screenplay, and it sits between The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008) and The X-Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn (2026) in his directing credits. The cast includes Aldis Hodge as D. Love, Andrew Howard as McCormick, Arielle Kebbel as Tammy, Jamie Kennedy as David, Sharon Lawrence as Francis and Sam Littlefield as Dark Shadow. It runs 60 minutes and was produced by Amazon Studios, Picrow and Georgeville Television.

The film holds a rating of 7.3 out of 10 on IMDb from around 8,500 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 6.8 from a much smaller base of about 34 votes. The larger IMDb sample points to a fairly positive response, and the gap between the two averages reflects how limited the TMDB vote count is.
