Short description
In 1979 Ohio, several youngsters are making a zombie movie with a Super-8 camera. In the midst of filming, the friends witness a horrifying train derailment and are lucky to escape with their lives. They soon discover that the catastrophe was no accident, as a series of unexplained events and disappearances soon follows. Deputy Jackson Lamb, the father of one of the kids, searches for the terrifying truth behind the crash.
What's left behind the scenes
- As with other films by director J.J. Abrams, filming for "Super 8" was conducted under conditions of extreme secrecy.
- The film evolved from two separate projects – a coming-of-age story about teenagers learning about life through the viewfinder of a Super 8 camera, and a proposed plot involving the infamous "Area 51" (a U.S. Air Force base where, according to legend, experiments are conducted on alien organisms).
- As with other films by director J.J. Abrams, the filming of "Super 8" was conducted in an atmosphere of extreme secrecy.
