Short description
Sidney Prescott has moved on from the killings that once made her famous, and she has written a book about surviving trauma. The promotional tour brings her back to Woodsboro, where Sheriff Dewey Riley and his wife Gale Weathers-Riley still live. Her cousin Jill and her friends are students at the local high school, and it is among them that a new Ghostface begins killing. As the town tries to make sense of the murders through the rules of horror films, the attacks continue.
Wes Craven directed, from a screenplay by Kevin Williamson, and both also produced. It is the twenty-fifth of the twenty-five films Craven directed, arriving after My Soul to Take. Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox reprise their roles from the earlier entries, joined by Emma Roberts as Jill, Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed and Erik Knudsen as Robbie Mercer. Thirty-six cast members and 140 crew members are credited.
Made for 40 million dollars, the film took in 97 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 189,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 out of 10 from about 4,300 votes. A critics' score of 6 out of 10 across 191 reviews places it close to the audience ratings.
