Bleach

Ichigo Kurosaki is a high school student in the town of Karakura who has been able to see ghosts for as long as he can remember. His life changes when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper, during an encounter with a hostile spirit. Rukia transfers her powers to him, leaving her unable to carry out her duties, and Ichigo must take her place fighting malevolent spirits while she guides him from the sidelines. The film adapts Tite Kubo's manga Bleach into live action, and Shinsuke Sato directed it from a screenplay he wrote with Daisuke Habara, with Sota Fukushi as Ichigo and Hana Sugisaki as Rukia. The cast also includes Ryo Yoshizawa, Erina Mano, Yū Koyanagi and Seiichi Tanabe.

Sato came to the project after a run of manga and anime adaptations that includes Gantz, its sequel, I Am a Hero, Death Note: Light Up the NEW World and, in the same year as this film, Inuyashiki. He went on to direct the Kingdom series. Bleach was released in July 2018 and runs 108 minutes.

Its worldwide box office came to about 4 million dollars. On IMDb the film holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 14,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 6.5 out of 10 from around 600 votes. A critics' rating of 6 out of 10 from six reviews sits close to those audience scores, suggesting a mixed but not dismissive response on both sides. The credited cast numbers 25.
