Short description

Rock Slyde is a downtrodden private detective who finds his office and his livelihood under threat from a startup quasi-religious cult called the House of Bartology. At the same time, a glamorous woman named Sara Lee comes to him because she believes someone is following her. Rock takes the case, and his efforts to help her become tangled up with his turf war against the cult and its leader, Bart. The film is a comedy crime story that plays on the conventions of classic detective fiction.

The film was released in 2010 and runs 86 minutes. It was written and directed by Chris Dowling, who also produced it with Milan Chakraborty and Jason Manns. It was the first feature Dowling directed, followed by Where Hope Grows in 2014 and Bad Counselors in 2026. Patrick Warburton plays Rock Slyde, with Andy Dick as Bart, Rena Sofer as Sara, Elaine Hendrix as Judy Bee, Jason Alexander as Mailman Stan and Eric Roberts as Jake the Deliveryman.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.5 out of 10 from 677 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 5.4 out of 10 from 21 votes. The two audience scores are close to each other, indicating a similar, moderate level of viewer approval across both platforms, with much more voting activity on IMDb.
