Kokowääh

Henry, a screenwriter, is struggling both professionally and in his love life. An unexpected offer to co-write the adaptation of a bestselling novel gives him hope of a fresh start, particularly because the project would reunite him with Katharina, a former girlfriend he still cares for. Before that hope can take shape, Magdalena, an eight-year-old girl, arrives at his door claiming to be his daughter, a claim that turns his daily life upside down and leaves him struggling to balance new fatherly duties with his work.

The German comedy Kokowääh was released in 2011 and runs 115 minutes. Til Schweiger directed and wrote the screenplay with Béla Jarzyk, and also produced with Tom Zickler. Schweiger plays Henry, while Emma Schweiger plays Magdalena; Jasmin Gerat appears as Katharina, with Samuel Finzi, Sanny van Heteren and Birthe Wolter in supporting roles. It came third in the run of films Schweiger directed, after Rabbit Without Ears and its sequel, and was followed by Kokowääh 2.

Made for around 6 million USD, the film took roughly 43 million USD worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On TMDB it holds a 6.2 out of 10 from over 300 votes, suggesting a generally modest but positive audience response.
