21 Jump Street

Schmidt and Jenko were opposites in high school, and they meet again years later at the police academy, where they become friends. Neither turns out to be a model officer, but both get a chance to prove themselves when they are assigned to a secret unit based at 21 Jump Street and led by Captain Dickson. Because they still look young, they are sent into a local high school as students, trading their weapons and badges for backpacks, to bring down a drug ring operating there. Once inside, they find that teenage life has changed a great deal since their own school days, and that some of the anxieties they thought they had left behind are still very much with them.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directed the film, following their earlier Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs; their later work together includes The Lego Movie, 22 Jump Street and Project Hail Mary. Michael Bacall wrote the screenplay, Neal H. Moritz and Stephen J. Cannell produced, and the cast is led by Jonah Hill as Schmidt and Channing Tatum as Jenko, with Brie Larson, Dave Franco, Rob Riggle and DeRay Davis in supporting roles. Made for a budget of 42 million dollars, it took in about 202 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb it holds 7.2 out of 10 from roughly 643,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9 out of 10 from around 11,000 votes. A critics' rating of 7.2 out of 10 from 224 reviews places it close to the audience scores.
