Rabbit Without Ears 2 continues the story of Ludo and Anna, whose relationship has settled into everyday routine two years on. Ludo has grown careless about his share of domestic life, while Anna is frustrated by his fading commitment, and small irritations turn into frequent arguments. The situation becomes more strained when people from their pasts reappear: Ludo runs into an old flame, and Anna's former boyfriend Ralf, who fancies himself an expert on women, moves in with the couple for a few days. Both begin snooping into each other's past, and suspicion and jealousy start to test the relationship.
The film is directed by Til Schweiger, who also plays Ludo. It follows his 2007 comedy Rabbit Without Ears and precedes Kokowääh, Kokowääh 2, Head Full of Honey, Berlin, I Love You, and the two 2023 titles Manta, Manta: Legacy and Das Beste kommt noch! in his directing credits. Anika Decker wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Nora Tschirner as Anna, Matthias Schweighöfer, Thomas Kretschmann, Ken Duken as Ralf, and Emma Schweiger, among 24 credited performers.
Released in late 2009, the German comedy took about 49 million dollars worldwide. Audience scores are modest: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from roughly 8,900 votes, and on TMDB 5.8 out of 10 from around 284 votes, suggesting a mixed response from viewers.
