Wyatt Trips is a college student who becomes convinced his girlfriend Kimberly has been unfaithful after a phone call he mishears. Acting on jealousy, he writes her an angry letter and sends it by overnight courier, enclosing a used condom and a photo of himself with a stripper named Ivy. By the next morning he learns he was wrong, and he sets out to intercept the package before it reaches Kimberly. Ivy, a stripper he met along the way, joins him on a frantic cross-country race against a determined deliveryman who will not stop until the parcel is delivered.
Released in 1998, the film is an American romantic comedy directed by Jason Bloom, who had previously made Bio-Dome, and written by Steve Bloom and Marc Sedaka. It stars Reese Witherspoon as Ivy and Paul Rudd as Wyatt, with supporting turns from Larry Drake, Christine Taylor, Tobin Bell and Carl Anthony Payne II. The production, backed by Motion Picture Corporation of America and New Line Cinema, had a reported budget of 12 million dollars.
On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.1 from roughly 7,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.6 from about 105 votes, an indication of modest and largely indifferent viewer interest. A critics' rating of 4.9 from seven reviews places it slightly below the audience score on IMDb. Produced two years after Bloom's debut, it is the second of the two features he directed in that period.
