Two ten-year-old boys, Travis and Harrison, wander through rural countryside on a day off and come across an apparently abandoned police cruiser sitting in a field. They manage to get it running and take it for a ride, playing with the siren and the equipment. The fun ends when the vehicle's radio brings the voice of Sheriff Kretzer, who wants his car back. The sheriff has reasons of his own for pursuing the boys so relentlessly, and what began as a childish prank turns into a dangerous game of cat and mouse in which the pair can only keep driving.
Jon Watts directed and co-wrote the film with Christopher Ford, and it followed his 2014 debut Clown, arriving before the Spider-Man films he later made. Kevin Bacon plays Sheriff Kretzer, with James Freedson-Jackson and Hays Wellford as Travis and Harrison, and Camryn Manheim and Shea Whigham in supporting roles. Watts also produced alongside Alicia Van Couvering and Sam Bisbee. The film runs 88 minutes.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 37,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 from roughly 943 votes. A critics' rating of 7.1 from 89 reviews places it above both audience scores, suggesting reviewers responded to it more warmly than general viewers did.
