Wishmaster

A drunken crane operator in a shipping yard drops a crate and shatters an ancient statue holding a fire-red opal. Imprisoned inside for centuries is a Djinn, a wish-granting demon, who is now free and looking for the person who woke him. That person is Alexandra Amberson, a young woman who studies ancient legends and myths. To gain eternal power, the Djinn must grant her three wishes, twisting each one into something monstrous while he builds an army of souls. Alexandra knows the danger her own wishes carry and has to find a way to stop him before his plan reaches its end.

Wishmaster is a 1997 American fantasy horror film directed by Robert Kurtzman, the first feature he directed. Peter Atkins wrote the screenplay. Andrew Divoff plays the Djinn, with Tammy Lauren as Alexandra,Robert Englund as Raymond Beaumont and Angus Scrimm providing narration. The film was made for about five million dollars and took roughly sixteen million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a film critics' rating of 3.7 out of 10 from 32 reviews, while on TMDB user ratings average 6.1 out of 10 from 736 votes, a gap that suggests general audiences responded more warmly than critics did.
